As the famous home of live fish and sashimi, every harbor in Sokcho has their own sashimi town. Joongang-dong sashimi town is still maintaining its 70s atmosphere as a fishing village and friendly hospitality of the time. Their old signage tells us how long they have been here and this place is the best-recommended sashimi place by Sokcho natives. Daepo Harbor attracts many visitors from far away places with its fresh flatfish, fluke and yellow tail. This is the largest live fish sashimi town in the East Coast and is popular since you can enjoy sashimi in low prices and climb up Seoraksan afterwards, which is located nearby. Dongmyeong Harbor Live Fish Sashimi Center located at the end of North side of Sokcho Harbor is popular among gourmets. They consider sashimi in Dongmyeonghang Port is high in quality as they only use fish caught in the sea. Jangsa Harbor has town of general sashimi restaurants that do not catch fish on the spot. If you want to have a meal in a quiet place with nicely presented side dishes, you should come to Jangsa Harbor

From tiny young Pollack to arm size-thick Pollack and extra large octopus, Dried Fish Market in Sokcho dries up everything. The most popular one is dried squid. Most of Dried Fish shops are gathered in Daepo Harbor, Dongmyeong Harbor and Sokcho Fish Market, however, you can easily get Dried Fish in every places of Sokcho.

Saekoshi is Japanese word meaning "sashimi with bones, " which is made by removing head, intestines and fin, then cutting fish with its back bone together. Sokcho Saekoshi is favorite food for both people in Sokcho and tourists, its chewy meat and crunchy soft bones taste great. Don’t forget to try dunking it in the hot pot too.
