Connected to coastal roads, the Lighthouse Observatory is popular among tourists for a good walking trail and view of Geumgangsan Mountain far away. Its 2nd floor has the Lighthouse Exhibition Hall that presents everything about lighthouses.
Beombawi Rock of Yeongnangho Lake
The Beombawi Rock sits in the giant natural lake of Yeongnangho Lake, which is 8km in circumference and 285.6a in width. Besides the 2nd Scenery of Sokcho and on the former site of Geumjangdae, Yeongnangjeong Pavilion was built in 2005 up on a high ground, overlooking the breathtaking view of the lake.
Cheongdaesan Mountain
The 230m high mountain was named after its rich and green forest of pine trees, which gave the name of Cheongdae-ri to a nearby village. On top of the mountain lies sceneries of the downtown Sokcho and sunrise of the East Sea, along with the close view of Seoraksan Mountain, including its peaks of Daecheongbong and Dalmabong, and the Ulsan.
Cheongchoho Lake
With nicknames of the Ssangseongho and Jinseongho, the Cheongchoho Lake is 5km long in circumferance and resembles cross section of a spirits jar. From 73.4m high Expo Tower, the nightview of the lakeside and sunrise from the East Sea will remind you of a masterpiece. The lake was also mentioned in the Taekliji, a monograph on geography of Korea by Lee, Jung-hwan, as one of the 8 sceneries of the Gwandong Area.
Jodo Island
Jodo Island, or the Island of the Birds, is famous for its beautiful scenery, sunrise, good fishing spots, sandy beach good for a stroll, and the vibrant atmosphere created by colorful events
Daepo Oeongchi
Daepo is on the seaside under the Seoraksan mountain, and is one of the most famous trading center of expensive fishes. Oeongchi, also called the Batdokjae, has breathtaking view of the Lighthouse, Jodo Island, and ocean waves coming towards the sandy shore.
Seorak Sunrise Park
Song Si-yeol the Uam, one of the most famous scholar and aristocrat of Joseon, was once on the way to his exile. When he was passing by the place which will become the Sunrise Park today, he called it Mulchi, or a village submerged underwater. The clean East Sea creates superior view with the Sculpture park and the rising sun shining among the pine trees.
Hakmujeong Pavilion
Hakmujeong Pavilion is built in the pine forest on the shore of the Ssangcheon Stream coming down from the Daecheongbong Peak of Seoraksan Mountain, by Mr. Oh Yunhwan in the 9th year of reign by King Gojong (1934). The pavilion has hexagonal roof, and was nicknamed as the Yukmojeong pavilion, or the hexagonal pavilion, and creates quiet atmosphere of traditional houses in the thick pine forest.
