Suboktap Monument

This is a statue of a mother&son, who is facing North and grabbing a bundle in one hand while holding her son’s hand in other. It is a monument that comforts broken heart of diasporas, who had to leave their hometown and shows hopes for reunification of Korea. This is not a war memorial monument, but is a sculpture to show burning heart of lost ones. In 1983, the monument was broken due o storm, but was restored with donations by people of the city.
