Sokcho Beach is located in the entrance of Abaimaeul (Abai Village) and the Express Bus Terminal. The nearby Jo-do (Bird-Island) earned the name for its cpious birds.
The dual scenery of the island and the beach add splendor to the place, which was called "Nonsan joyang" in Soya 8(pal) Gyeong (The Eight Sceneries of Soya) for its beautiful sunrise.
Nowadays, many events and festivals are held on the beach.

The dazzlingly white beach is surrounded by evergreen pine groves. In the summer, the shady groves of pine trees shelter visitors from the heat and glare of sunlight.
The beach opens for 40 days from July 20th of every year, and holds the Summer Beach Festival, Seorak Triathlon and other various events during the time. Sokcho Beach is a well-known place among beach goers in Korea.
