Thirty-eight species of mammals, including the Siberian Leopard and Amur Goral, both endemic to the Siberia zone, are known to have their habitats in the Seorak area. However, the Korean Tiger, Asian Black Bear, Musk Deer. Chinese Wilf, Korean Red Fox, Siberian Leopard, and Ussuri Sika have not been seen recently and are presumedto be endangered. The Siberian Flying Squirrel, Amur Goral, and otter are included in the list of 'threatened spcies'. The Korean Wild Boar, Korean Badger, Korean Raccoon, Chinese Roe Deer, Korean Water Deer, and Korean Yellow-Necked Marten have decreased in number due to human intervention and environmental changes. However, Eurasian Red Squirels and Asiatic Chipmunks, among others, are increasing in number thanks to improvenments in their habitat conditions.

[Asian Black Bear]
The Asian Black Bear has been known to live in the deepest mountains in the northern region near Mt. Baekdusan. It is marked with a white crescent on the chest. Humans rarely get a chest. Humans rarely get a chance to see this nocturnal animal.

[Amur Goral ]
The Amur Goral is also called a 'living fossil' because it bears characterisics of ancestors to the various animals falling under Bovidae, Its habitat is found in crevices of steep and rough mountains, not easily reached by humans or other animals. The Amur Goral used to be seen in herds up in the mountains, up until the 1960s. However, few survive until this day.

[SIberian Flying Squirrel ]
This animal is endemic to Korea and lives on old broadleaved trees, In the past, they were reportedly seen all across the nation, but today, they are only found in Mt. Jirisan, Mt, Deokyusan. and Mt, Seoraksan. It is designated as Natural Monument No. 328. |

[Manchurian Trout ]
This fish is an index of the purity of water, as it only survives in cold and extremely pure water. This 10~20cm long fish has dark brown spots sparsely covering its yellowish body. Mt. Seoraksan is one of the few places the Manchurian Trout is spotted. |

[Asiatic Chipmunk ]
This rather small, brown, slightly furry animal has large teeth good for gnawing at nuts. Its long tail helps it to maintain balance when climbing trees and to send signals to other animals. It can be easily found across the nation. |

[Kestrel]
Belonging to the hawk family as a Precious Natural Product, the Kestrel stays still in the air and snatches rats or little birds very quickly, which takes its nickname as Wind catcher. It can be seen in old pine trees in Seoraksan through Jul. Sep. but not often. |

[Mandarin Duck]
Symbolizing loving couple that always sticks together in a graceful style, Mandarin Duck has been cherished by people. Expected to live in deep Soraksan valley. |

[Owl]
A reserved kind in the owl family, Owl is a rare resident bird in Korea. Distributed over the Temperate and Sub artic Zone in Eurasian Continent, it is assumed to see the nocturnal owl in Seoraksan area. |

[Eagle Owl]
Designated as Precious Natural Product No.324 along with owl and scops owl, the biggest bird in the Owl family is nocturnal, living in rocky area. |

[Musk Deer]
Musk Deer used to be distributed in Amour and Usuries Area in Manchuria and eastern Siberia and throughout the Korea, but now being an endangered species it is protected as a precious natural product. It is supposed to live in high area of Seoraksan. |

[Red Tommy Hawk]
A common summer migratory bird in Eagle family, lives mostly in pinewoods near farmland feeds on frogs and sometimes snatches bugs or little birds. |

[Black Woodpecker]
Belonging to Woodpecker family, the big bird is rare resident in Korea in the same area throughout the year, shiny black like crows. It is currently expected to live in Seoraksan area. |
