Mt. Cheongdaesan(blue-column mountain) earned its name from the thick pine groves on its 230m altitude.
In Soya 8(pal) Gyeong(The Eight Sceneries of Soya), the mountain is called " Cheongdaehwabyeong"(Hwabyeong : folding screen with paintings) for its resemblance to a fanned folding screen. The peak of the mountain is a natural observatory where Sokcho, the East sea, Daecheongbong (DaecheongPeak), Dalmabong (DalmaPeak), and Ulsanbawi (Ulsanrock) can be observed in the vicinity. |
