The Mt. Seoraksan National Park is densely occupied with local wind flowers. In particular, the alpine plant habitat up near the mountain peaks serves as important reference in tracking the movement of plants according to the change in the climate. This area is also where the habitats for southern region plats and northern region plants overlap. Another interesting aspect about Mt. Seoraksan is that you can see diggerent flora in the inner Seorak and the outer Seorak.

[Somdari (Edelweiss; Leontopodium coreanum)]
This perennial alpine flower blooms into off-white or yellow furry blossoms between July and August. It is a symbol of grace. It is beautitul enough to be used as ornaments, while the young sprouts are edible.

[Nado-okjamhwa(Clintonia udensis)]
This is another perennial plant found in Mt. Seoraksan. During the hottest time of the year, a long stem sprouts up and presents a bud just ready to burst. The flower blooms in early morning. The combination of a long stem and small petals create a unique appearance.

[Boksucho(Adonis amurensis)]
This perennial plant requires sunlight shining down on it. Its stem comes up in early spring, breaking the thin ice. The yellow petals that bloom amid the white snow call out, "It's Spring!"

[Magamok(Sorbus commixta)]
This Rosaceae plant has odd-pinnate leaves that are green on the surface and yellow green on the back. It is planted next to roads or in parks. The bark of the tree is used for oriental medicine and the berries are edible, used in making tea.

[Norugwi(Hepatica asiatica)]
The leaves of this plant come out coiled in early spring. It is named. norugui(ear of deer), because the coiled leaf resembles one. The flowers are colored light pink, blue purple, red, or white, and are sightly toxic. It is used in making oriental pain-killing medicine.

[Genmgangchorong(Hanabusaya asiatica)]
This variation of the bellflower plant species has flowers shaded in purple to light The leaves are concentrated on the top of the stalk, with small pieces of the calyx separated apart. The calyx is located way up the stalk, on which is perched the style. It is found between the Daecheongbong peak and Socheongbong peak.

[Cheonyeochima(Heloniopsis orientalis)]
This perennial plant grows in shaded humid areas under trees. Its name cheonyeochima (maiden's skirt) derives from its appearance resembling a girl seated with her pleated skirt spread out. It is easily seen between April and June in Mt. Seoraksan.
