Situated in Daepohang (Daepo Port) on the skirt of Mt. Seoraksan, Oeongchi is the only place in Sokcho to find the jangseung (totem poles). The two totem poles, which are always in couples (male & female forms), are replaced with new carvings every three years. The carved couple is believed to protect the village. The overhead view of the city, lighthouse, Jodo (island) and the beach creates a grand vista.

The local squid, which are caught in mass-quantity, is one of the specialties of raw fish restaurants in that area.
