The 5km perimeter of Cheongchoho is shaped like a jar.
The lake was also called "Cheonghomagyeong (Cheongho-Mirror)" in Soya 8(pal) Gyeong (The Eight Sceneries of Soya) because of its clean water reflecting objects like a polished mirror. The nocturnal scene of Cheongchoho and the sunrise the Ease Sea can be viewed from the International Tourist Exposition Observatory.

Many species of birds such as swans, thousands of sea gulls and flocks of ducks visit the area to pass the winter.
Fostering a large influx of migratory birds, with 216 species under observation, Cheongchoho is recognized as an important ecological park.
